I always respect and admire men who are not afraid to admit that they like Jane Austen. I love them even more if they also think that Colin Firth is the ultimate Darcy and hate the Kiera Knightly atrocity that was unleashed upon us some time ago. I think that literature and the literati has done excellent texts like the <i>Secret Life of Bees</i> and <i>Steel Magnolias</i> a disservice by disdainfully categorizing them as "womens" work. In fact, I'd like to unleash Ouiser on them. Hooray on reaching 60,000 words!

I always respect and admire men who are not afraid to admit that they like Jane Austen. I love them even more if they also think that Colin Firth is the ultimate Darcy and hate the Kiera Knightly atrocity that was unleashed upon us some time ago.

I think that literature and the literati has done excellent texts like the Secret Life of Bees and Steel Magnolias a disservice by disdainfully categorizing them as “womens” work. In fact, I’d like to unleash Ouiser on them.

It's so true; there are so many expectations thrust upon us according to our gender, and when we don't abide by them..well..something MUST be off, right? Something just doesn't fit. But even the sheer consideration for the basis of our intentions is enough to contradict the 'set-in-stone' gender based inclinations. I think it's hilarious..because in truth, beauty is found in the differences and the distinctions, the 'odd' and intriguing, the personal quirks and peeves. People both hate and love that which is different. A jealous hate for that which is loved. I loved this!
