Final Push

On Writing

Hey everyone.

Well, as the word count shows, I’m entering the final phases of the writing process. Everything is on schedule, thank goodness, and hopefully there will be something complete to start submitting very soon. My goal is to finish everything just prior to the Christmas holiday. Then I’ll take a little break, and when the new year arrives, I will focus all my efforts on getting the manuscript in the hands of an agent.

Right now, I have a list of nine things that need my attention. As I’ve come to a place of near-completion, holes and gaps are becoming clear. I’ve been poring over many books recently, taking note of the things that make a book great. Finishing thoughts, making clear connections, and keeping the story snappin’ and poppin’, these are the intangibles.

Once my list is complete (a week or two after Thanksgiving), I will begin final edits & revisions to the manuscript, which should take me right to the Christmas holiday.

Once again, the support of those in my life, and the unexpected support from new faces makes this project possible. Every single one of you who has reminded me to keep pressing on, to stay focused, and to finish strong have a special place in my heart.

As the process nears its end, blog posts will most likely become less frequent, but I’ll keep you all posted with any new developments.

I wish you all a happy holiday season.

- Charlie

Great job, Charlie! How long after you submit your completed manuscript will it be before its publication?

You should be really proud of yourself – I know I am proud of you – for doing what you love and making it possible for yourself to continue to do what you love – write.

Keep up the great work! We can’t wait to buy your book and let your words keep us warm on a cold winter’s night by the fire.

    Your friend, Susan

I’m not impressed until I see 60,000 words.
